The winter of 1892 brought darkness in the life of Helen. She had written a story named The Frost King. She had written with the intention of gifting it to Mr. Anagnos. He was delighted with this gift and published it in one of Perkins Institution Reports. But he was embarrassed when it turned out to be similar to a story written by Miss Margaret T. Canby. Helen was told to appear before the court. After this incident Miss Sullivan with the help of Alexander investigated the matter and found that in the summer of 1888 Miss Sophia had read that story to Helen. This incident left Helen in tears and she wanted to end her life.
