Gandhinagar: The 118 meters tall cooling tower situated at the Thermal Power Station near Pethapur was razed to the ground using dynamite implosions. All the routes leading to the thermal power station were closed. People had gathered in heavy numbers to witness the demolition. Power supply in the area will be cut off from 2 to 4 PM.

The police had cordoned the entire area and blocked all the routes near the thermal plant for around 2 hours. As part of the precaution, more than 100 police personnel were kept on stand-by.

It is worth mentioning that, the cooling tower was once the identity of Gandhinagar but now it has become history. If you enter the capital from GH 0 to CH 4 roads, these two towers were visible. However, owing to safety and security this decision has now been taken.

Two cooling towers of an old Thermal power plant is demolished ( 1st December) by government authorities in GEB area of Gandhinagar.. The towers were 47 years old ..control blast techinique was used to demolish it with the help of to demolish the two towers . Both the towers were of 118 metre in height Adjoining areas were cleared before the blast so that no loss of life or property happens
