As war expenditure increased the British increased taxes in India. This had a negative impact on the Indian economy. Prices of essential goods increased,there was shortage of food, inflation and unemployment reached unprecedented levels.

the first world war altered the economic and political situation in India it lead to a huge rise in the defence expenditure of the Government of India the government and increase taxes on individual economic and incomes and business profit increased military expenditure and the demand for war supplies is went to a sharp rise in prices which created great difficulties for the common people but Businessman gets a huge profit
