Jaziya was a tax, levied on the non-muslim subjects by the Islamic rulers. It was one of the main sources of revenue for the rulers. It functioned in three slabs depending on income and its rate ranged from 0.5% to 6%.

Also Zakaat @ 2.5 % were paid by Muslim in King's Treasury willingly to help Emperor to run the state. To have sufficient funds the Kings implemented same donation system.
