  1. Earlier the Merchants from various countries came to india through the north-west through land route for the purpose of trading.
  2. But,as the situation changed the trade stopped through the land route and started by sea route.
  3. They explored the sea routes and came to india for the purpose of trading.
  4. Consequently the demand of Indian commodities like silk,Muslin,black pepper,spices etc.,increased in European countries.
  5. This was the importance of British trade for India.
