Turban was a significant part of Indian dress code. Not only it protected from the heat but it was a sign of respectability which could not be removed at will. Turban was the national identity of all Indians.

turban is weared because to promote equality and to perserve Sikh identity and is so done due to prevent those long coiled hairs and is introduced by the tenth Sikh guru.... known as guru gobind singh
