Answer:

It is the first battle in which British won. Here are some other points I would like to share which is important.

(i) The Battle of Plassey was fought between Nawab Siraj-ud-Daullah and Robert Clive in 1757.

(ii) After this battle company made Mir Jafar the puppet Nawab but the real administration was in the hands of Company.

(iii) The company could do fortification easily after the battle of Plassey.

(iv) British won because Mir Jafar betrayed his Nawab without participating in the war so that he can be the next Nawab.

As a result of the battle of Plassey, the French were no longer a significant force in Bengal. In 1759, the British defeated a larger French garrison at Masulipatam, securing the Northern Circars.

Hope this helps...

Answer:

The Battle of Plassey is generally thought to signify the start of British rule in India. The victory was tainted by accusations that Robert Clive, leader of the forces of the East India Company, coerced and bribed the forces of the Nawab of Bengal to commit treason. These events surrounding his win are said to have left a negative mark on British rule in India ever since.

The battle of Plassey was the most important and decisive battle fought between the British east India Company and Nawab of Bengal Siraj-ud-Daula that took place on June 23, 1757. The battle marks the inception of the English rule in India. The company’s forces under the command of Robert Clive won a landslide victory over young Nawab’s forces establishing a permanent sway over Bengal that expanded over entire Indian sub-continent in next hundred years. It was preceded by Nawab’s taking possession of Calcutta in 1756 and the notorious Black Hole incident. The battle was fought during the Seven Years War and was a mirror image of the European colonial rivalry that was manifested in French sending help to Nawab against the company. Whatever, the numerical superiority of the Bengali forces fell short of the well organized and better equipped company’s forces.
