France was constantly suffering subsistence crisis which enraged the people even more. The king decided to send an army to check the status of the country. The public misconcepted that and thought that the king has sent his army to call fire upon 'em. With their already fuming rage they decided to kill anyone who came in their path. People decided to overthrow monarchial rule and stormed and merely destroyed the existing Bastille fort.
