ON THAT DAY MANGAL PANDEY AN INDIAN SEPOY REFUSED TO FIRE THE BULLET AS IN THE NEW ENFIELD RIFLE BULLET A RUMOR WAS SPREAD THAT IT IS MADE UP OF FAT OF PIG AND COW WHICH WERE AGAINST THE RELEGION OF HINDU AND MUSLIM AS THEY HAVE TO BITE THE CARTIDGES WITH MOUTH TO FIRE AND IT WAS AGAINST THE RELEGION OF BOTH HINDU & MUSLIM. SO MANGAL PANDEY FIRED AT THE BRITISH OFFICERS AT BARRACKPORE NEAR KOLKATA ON 29 MARCH 1857 . LATER HE WAS HANGED TO DEATH.
