Padmavati was an extremely beautiful princess of the Singhal Kingdom. Ratan Sen, the ruler of Chittor went in search of her just by listening to the description given by a talking parrot.
When Ratan Sen married her and got her home. The Sultan of Delhi, Alauddin Khilji who had also heard about Padmavati attacked Chittor to obtain her.
Meanwhile, Devpal another king killed Ratan Sen in order to obtain Padmavati. Padmavati along with her companions committed self-sacrifice to protect her honour before Alauddin Khilji could reach Chittor.
