Due to spread of Christianity French control over Vietnam was increasing so the imperials of the court opposed it which resulted Scholars Revolt in 1868.
Over 3,00,000 people changed to Christianity so Vietnamese killed hundreds of Catholics in the provinces of Ha Yien and Ngu An.
