Mir Kasim became a diehard enemy of the English. Being defeated by them in three successive battles in 1763 Mir Kasim finally fled to Allahabad.
There he obtained the support of the fugitive Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II and Sujauddowla, the Nawab of Oudh.
Mir Kasim was entrusted by the other two to raise a joint army of the three under his command.
The confederate army of the three met the English General Hector Munro at Buxar in 1764 (22 October).
In the war Mir Kasim was thoroughly defeated. And thus ended the independent of Nawabship of Bengal.
