after the battle of buxer . dewani was introduced in Bengal means right to collect land revenue.. which leads to formation of dual government in bengal. uder this -

• nawab look after the administration

• British control over revenue collection , military and judiciary

due to this common people suffered . and about thousands of people died in bengal femine 1770 . but company(btitish) didn't help the victims and nawab didn't have resources.

in 1772 warren hasting governor of bengal abolished dual government

ANSWER: Dual government was a type of government in which, the British were in charge of collecting revenue meanwhile the Nawabs was in charge of law and order. It was a very unsatisfactory way of governing as neither the British nor the nawabs had the complete responsibility.
