The main destinations of Indian indentured migrants were the Ca'fribean islands mainly Trinidad, Guyana, Surinam, Mauritius and Fiji. Closer home, Tamil migrants went to Ceylon and Malaya. Indentured workers were also recruited for tea plantations in Assam.
