East India company secured valuable privileged in 1717 under the Farman given the Mughal emperor , which allowed company to import and export goods in Bengal without paying taxes . Company servant were permitted to trade but they were not covered under this Farman. This Farman was the reason for conflict between company and the Nawab of Bengal. All the Nawab from Murshid Quli khan to Alivirdi khan had objected to english interpretation of Farman 1917.

Situation worsen when Siraj ud daula become the Nawab after succeeding Alivirdi khan his grandfather. When Nawab ordered to demolish the fortification of Calcutta then the company refused to do so.

English join the conspiracy to allow Mir Jafar as the Nawab of Bengal. They presented enormous sort of demand before Siraj ud daula . Both side understood that war had to be fought to finish all this .

Therefore they met at the battle of Plassey on 23 June 1757.

This is how company by conspiracy started occupying Bengal and in due course started ruling from Bengal.

Thank you.

Hope it's help you
