The main purpose of Simon commission was to review the functioning and working of government in India. The people of India decided to boycott the commission because there was no Indian member in commission.

The main purpose of Simon commission

(i) was to look into the functioning of the constitutional system in India and suggest changes.

Sir John Simon was set up for it by the new Toey government.

The problem was that the commission did not have any single Indian member. When Simon arrived in india in 1928 it was greeted with the slogan 'Go back Simon'.
