hey mate!!!
indians were not united and did not work together.
They all had different thoughts. the British presence in India began through trade. Men like Robert Clive, of the British East India Company, combined military prowess with a ruthless ambition and became fabulously wealthy. With wealth came to power, and traders took control of huge swaths of India. almost everyone in India knows this by heart — Britishers ruled India for 300 years. We got rid of them in 1947 and Robert Clive won the battle of Plassey in 1757, so that is a neat 190 years. The British and the Indians were involved in Imperialism in India. The Indians were very important to the British because of their Nationalist ideas. They wanted toImperialize India for its potential, not its profit. India supplied materials for Britain like teak and sal for their ships etc.
hope it helps
