what was the major advantage of using HYD seed in agriculture

1. High Yielding Variety Seeds (HYV) has shorter lifecycle and thereby enables the farmers to go for multiple cropping.

2. High Yielding Variety Seeds (HYV) needs a lot of water for better yields. The yield per unit area is significantly high.

3. (HYV) under optimal conditions requires more labour per unit area, and thus help in generating more employment. Prior to the introduction of HYV, the farmers over greater parts of the country.

4. HYV are scale neutral which means that other things being remaining the same, the big farmers and the small farmers are likely to get the production and profit in the same proportion.

5. The adoption of HYV does not require any special skill and farmers of various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds can adopt the new seeds easily.
