Our Declaration of Independence states that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights..." The fact that any man had to fight for this self-evident truth is just wrong, yet it happened. To be honest, some of the antiquated ideas in our current society still provide the conditions for inequality. There are many that argue this point, but that is part of the bigger problem. This is why race is still an issue in 2016. Let's hope we can overcome this as a nation.
