Answer- Robert Whittaker (1959) classified all organisms into five kingdoms:
1. Monera
2. Protista
3. Fungi
4. Plantae
5. Animalia

The basis of the classification is-
1) Cell Structure
2) Mode of nutrition
3) Source of nutrition
4) Body Organisation

Carl Woese(1977) made modifications in Robert Whittaker's classification of living organisms.
He divided the Monera kingdom into 2 categories-
1. Archaebacteria or Archae
2. Eubacteria or Bacteria.
