Many are convinced that Tansen, who died in his 82{+n}{+d} year, was consumed by the flames created when he sang Deepak raga. Tansen and his wife had five children -- four sons and a daughter, all musicians. His daughter Saraswati became a famous veena player.

Tansen, (born c. 1500, Behata or Gwalior, India—buried 1586/89, Gwalior),  an Indian musician and poet who was an important figure in the North Indian tradition of Hindustani classical music. He was greatly esteemed for his dhrupad and raga compositions and his vocal performances.
