The nature of revolt prior to 1857 was undirected that is it was mostly localised in smaller area,leaderless,no popular support etc.It was suppressed easily by the Britishers. The revolt of 1857 changed the nature of resistance as it was great blow to the British raj with power and dierection to some extent.
