Explanation: there was several uprisings against british before the revolt of 1857.the resistance offered by differen tribal groups,peasants and religious factions remained localised and ill organized and this is the reason why this uprisings failed.however in certain are the british could put down these uprising easily,whille in other areas the struggle was prolonged resulting in heavy causalities.some of these uprisings were the bhil uprisings(1817-18) and the revolt in swantwadi(1830,1836 aand 1838)
