Hello, The nature of the British before 1857 was not the same. They accepted the religious customs which people followed and never interfered.They came as a borrower.This was because of the nutritious and tasty spices and traditional life.On seeing the wealth which India had, British began looting and gradually they began interfering in the matters like the customs.They began making Indians as slaves and made king to accept the Crucial offers likeSubsidiary alliance.
