Answer:

The Early Vedic society was tribal and  the society was divided into different classes based on their profession.. Clean and kinship relations formed the basis of the society and family was the basic social unit. The later Vedic society came to be divided into four varnas called the brahmins, rajanyas or kshatriyas, vaishyas and shudras

Answer:

Early Vedic Period

There was no Social Strata in the Eaely Vedic Period which was very complex. The first classification in the Early Vedic Period was at its near end. It was between the Aryans and the non-Aryans. Then tge classification was done on the basis of jobs or professions. The scholars or pundits were claimed as the Brahmins and tgeir job was to preach knowledge. The people who defended their nations from enemies were the Kshatriyas. The merchants and traders were the Vaishyas. The people doing physical labour were the Shudras. But there was no rigidity and people can change their class by just changing their job. No class was considered as superior to other classes. And they were classes not castes.

Later Vedic Period

In the Later Vedic Period the classes changed to castes. Caste of a person was according to his birth and not his job. Castes could not be changed by mere change of jobs. The Brahmins became the paramount of the social vaste system. Sometimes thet even corrupted the kingdoms. The Shudras became the untouchables and were abdicated by everyone. Intercaste marriages became a taboo which was allowed in Early Vedic Age. This social strata was vey rigid and complex.
