Babbar Khalsa International (BKI, Punjabi: ਬੱਬਰ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ, [bəbːəɾ xɑlsɑ]), better known as Babbar Khalsa, is a Sikh terrorist organisation with objective to create an independent Sikh country Khalistan and uses armed attacks, bombings, kidnappings and murders to accomplish their goals.

The objective of Babbar:

  • Babbar’s objective was to set up an entirely different state of Khalistan in Punjab for Sikhs.
  • Following Sant Nirankari convention to start a new religion on the concept of panj pyare, Bhindranwale (Sikh orthodox leader) delivered an angry speech from the premises of the holy place to not allow them to so and would cut them into pieces.
  • Then the prime minister of the state did not appeal to the decision of the criminal case filed against the Nirankaris by Akali led government, which was found as an act to defame the religion.
  • This very act gave rise to Babbar Khalsa and a few others as a chief opponent and an objective of demanding a sovereign Sikh state.
