IMPHAL | Aug 24 : Salai Holdings Private Limited has countered the allegations against Smart Medicos by Health director, Dr. K. Rajo of not holding license for selling drugs as ‘baseless’ and asked for his clarification.
Speaking to media persons today at its Tera Loukrakpam Leikai office, Salai Holdings board of director’s member, K. Roshan said it is very unfortunate that Rajo making allegation that the reason for Smart Medicos withdrawing from a contract signed for Chief Ministergi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) is that the firm does not possess license.
He said since the past 10 years the company has been operating 20 retail outlets of drugs in different parts of the state.
Moreover, the additional state drug controller medical directorate and Licensing and Controlling Authority Manipur has given the license for wholesaling drugs specific in schedule C and C (1) drugs, schedule X and other drugs which are not mentioned in the two schedules and is valid upto 2022, he added.
Health and family welfare department, Smart Medicos and Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPI) in an MoU signed on January 8 had agreed that Smart Medicos will strengthen and manage Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) outlets at 27 locations for CMHT, continued Roshan.
Asserting that only 667 drugs were covered under CMHT and 820 drugs under BBPI but the company had provided services beyond the contract such as pacemakers for patients with an aim to enhance the results of CMHT, the member cited the withdrawal of contract as “Discouraging the local entrepreneurs and a step to encourage non-local entrepreneurs.”
The company is all set to take up legal action against Rajo for falsely accusing Smart Medicos if he fails to clarify at the earliest, warned the member.
