'Lieutenant Colonel Sir Vijayananda Gajapathi Raju', also known as 'The Maharajkumar of Vizianagram' was the only Indian cricketer knighted and was given the pet-name ‘Vizzy’.

EXPLANATION:

'Lieutenant Colonel Sir Vijayananda Gajapathi Raju', the Maharajkumar of 'Vizianagram', also known as Vizzy was a cricket player and was also the captain of the Indian cricket team in the year 1936 for their tour of England.

He was given the name Vizzy when the team toured England in the year 1936, which was given by Lord Hailsham, then Lord Chancellor, at a lunch  hosted by the Royal Empire Society at Hotel Victoria.

Vizzy had renounced his knighthood in the year 1947 post India gaining independence stating that it did not keep up with the ideals of the Indian Republic.

Vizzy also served as an administrator when he was the President of the 'Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)' for three years from 1954 -1957.
