Russia was an autocracy. The ruler Of Russia was the Tsar and technically everything that happened in Russia was his responsibility which he shared with no one and was responsible only to God for his actions. The Tsar was entitled the Tsar and Autocrat of all The Russias, Grand Duke of Finland etc, etc.

Before 1914,majority of Russian community followed Russian Orthodox Christianity.

Constitutional Demoractic Party and Octobrist were the leading parties there.

Most of the people in Russia in 1914 were involved in agriculture, nearly 85 %. Industries in Russia were limited to a few regions like Moscow and St. Petersburg and were mostly in the control of private individuals. Factories along with art and craft workshops made up the industry of Russia. Although, the government tried to control the working conditions in the industries, workers has to work long hours and face discrimination in the wages paid to men and women workers. Women made up to 31% of the work force.
