The postmaster was a proud and arrogant person who never displayed any emotion on his face. However, he underwent a transformation after receiving Ali’s letter, along with the news of his demise. He was eagerly awaiting his daughter’s letter when he accidentally came across Ali’s letter, which reminded him of his last encounter with Ali. He was overcome with a feeling of guilt and remorse for the insensitive manner in which he had treated Ali by calling him a pest. He could now empathize with Ali and realized that both were loving fathers who were anxious to know about their daughter’s wellbeing. He had spent one night with anxiety and wondered how many nights Ali would have spent. He resolved to personally handover the letter to Ali and even had a hallucination of Ali standing before him, three months after his passing. He turned into a new leaf after this encounter and realized that letters are not mere pieces of paper but carry emotions and sentiments wrapped in their folds. His proud and haughty temper was replaced by a very kind and sympathetic one. From that day onwards, he handled the mail with great sensitivity.
