The foremost reason which brought about the partition of India was the policies followed by the British rule. For the British India was just another colony which provided them raw Martials and serve as a good market for their finished goods. The first spark of partition was by Curzon who portioned Bengal which created hatred among Indians. They followed the DIVIDE AND RULE strategy which proved to be successful in case of India at least. They managed to make the princely states rivals of each other. The Hindu Muslim riots which were unheard of in the pre-colonial period became a hot topic under the British.Every Indian citizen accepts the fact that it the British rule which brought India under a single crown (India was split into more than 500 princely states). But that was not actually meant by them. It was an accidental act as they had a strong desire towards imperialism.
