Britain also needed money to pay for its war debts. The King and Parliament believed they had the right to tax the colonies. They decided to require several kinds of taxes from the colonists to help pay for the French and Indian War.

The reason behindbehind the unpopularity of the english colonial policy in the american colonies is that Britain needed to money to clear the debt, pay taxes and war purposes. So they, relied on America to get the money and was told to sell certain items to only England which they will further sell for money. But the Americans also wanted recognition  which the British didn't gave them.
