Lord Cornwallis introduced this system in 1793,which gave proprietary right to zamindars who became permanent owners of the land. They had the right to eject the cultivators for non-payment of dues. They were required to pay a fixed amount of land-revenue to the government every year. Thus, the company was not only assured a fixed return but also saved from the trouble of making fresh assessments every year. Thus,a big class of landlords came into existence. They were the most loyal supporters of the British rule in India....

Hope it works...!!!!!
