The Russian civil war was fought between Reds(Communists),Whites(Royalists) and Greens(Peasants and others)
-Many of participants of Russian Revolution were not communists. So after Lenin came in,They opposed his actions like collectivisation etc.
-Military forces loyal to Czar were still active and formed White forces who fought Communists with support of Allied forces of WW1
-Some people,Especially Peasants who didnt want collectivisation, didnt want either of Communists or Royals,So they formed the Green Army to fight others
-The fighting in mainland Russia ended in 1923,While fighting in Central Asia continued until 1924
