After the independence in 1948 Srilanka government passed a bill "Sinhala Bill (1956) Act. After passing this bill Sinhala became the official language of Srilanka and Sinhala speakers get priority in government jobs and in university positions . Buddhism religion will be fostered in Srilanka. Due to these reasons tamil speakers were exploited and discriminated so, it becomes the reason of tension between tamil and Sinhala speakers.
