There were many reasons for the revolution. Some of them are:-
Social Cause:- One of the strong reason behind the revolution was the existing social division in France. France society was divided into privileged and non-privileged sections.
Political Cause:-  Louis XVI faced strong opposition from provincial Parlement which were the spearheads of the privileged classes' resistance to royal reforms.
Economical Cause:- The treasury of the king was empty on account of long wars that cause an increase in taxes.
Intelectual Causes:- Phillosphers played a significant role. The idea of these philosophers was discussed in salons and coffee house and spread among people through books and newspapers.
