what was the relationship between the mansabdar and the jagir

A jagir was a revenue assignment for the mansabdars. The mansabdars had the right to collect revenue from a jagir but they could not reside in or administer the jagir.

Mansabdars received their salary as revenue assignment called jagir. Mansabdars did not actually reside in or administer their Jagir . they served in some other part of the country while the revenue was collected for them by their servant.
