Muhammad Bin Tughluq introduced bronze and copper coins as he needed money for various reasons:
1)He wanted to raise a huge army as he is said to have thought of conquering the whole world.
2)He had also distributed a lot of money among nobles to please them when he ascended the throne after the death of his father.
3)Muhammad Tughlaq issued token currency(bronze and cu coins) because there was a shortage of gold coins and the Sultan on the other hand needed money.
He also took inspiration from the issue of paper notes by a 13th century Chinese emperor.
