The revoltvof 1857 is the rebellion in the india agaist the white men and against the east india company .there were many indians in the british empire then the soldiers were said to fire the bullets which has the pig fat in it many indians were muslims and hindus.hindus believed that pigs are unsacred animals and muslims don't believe the pigs as lucky they don't like pigs. This led to revolt in 1857 the people damaged many police stations and they kept fire for many post offices.

Answer:

The Indian Rebellion of 1857 had diverse political, economic, military, religious and social causes. ... The spark that led to a mutiny in several sepoy companies was the issue of new gunpowder cartridges for the Enfield rifle in February, 1857. A rumour was spread that the cartridges were made from cow and pig fat.
