1) Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is known as the ‘Father of Indian Constitution’. He believed that his participation in the Constituent Assembly helped the Scheduled Castes get some safeguards in the draft Constitution.
2) He also stated that although the laws might exist, SCs had to fear because the administration of these laws were in the hands of ‘caste Hindu officers’
3) He therefore urged SCs to join government as well as civil services
4) He kept the clauses of Constitution flexible so that amendments could be made as and when the situation demanded. He provided an inspiring Preamble to the Constitution that ensured justice, social, economic, and political, liberty, equality, fraternity etc
5) The text prepared by Ambedkar provided constitutional guarantees and protections for a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens, which included freedom of religion, abolition of untouchability, outlawing all forms of discrimination, social rights for women etc
