Vladimir Ilich Lenin (1870-1924) is best known for his role in the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the founding of the Soviet Union. Lenin symbolized for many people the principles and ideas of the 1917 Revolution. ... Here we focus on Lenin's ideas about imperialism more than on hisrevolutionary strategies.

Role of Lenin:
1.When the kerensky govt lost the support of the people,Lenin returned from Exile to organise the Bolshevik party to take over the reins of power.
2.He forwarded clear policies to end the war , transferred land to peasants and popularised the slogan"All Power To The Soviets".
3.He proclaimed the right of all people including those under the Russian empire to self determination. He became the head of the world's first communist govt.

Hope this helps you.....
