Answer:
Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi Tuesday highlighted the contribution of former ruler Begum Sultan Jahan and said Bhopal in its 240 years' history is the only state that was ruled by women four times.
Inaugurating a two-day international seminar here on "Sultan Jahan Begum", first chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Qureshi said that she was the first woman ruler who worked for the promotion of education among Muslims.
She established a trust with an endowment of Rs.4 lakh for women education, he said.
Veteran actress and Begum of Pataudi Sharmila Tagore cautioned against any attempt to "politicise" issues related to female education, especially those related to Muslims.
She said that there was a growing perception that official statistics pertaining to the status of education among Muslim women did not reflect ground realities.
