Bahadur Shah Zafar was also keen to drive the British out, so he participated in the war with his army. He was a brave and powerful warrior and had a big and expert cavalry. Because of his army he was declared the leader of the Indian army of that Revolt. He fought well but then he with his sons were captured by British. He was sent to Burma and he died in the prison.

Bahadur Shah Zafar was also keen to drive the British out, so he participated in the war with his army. He was a brave and powerful warrior. there is a general perception especially in colonial historiography that the Meerut sipahis showed their immaturity in naming a doddering old fool as their nominal leader. The action of the sipahis is regarded as being futile and meaningless since the Mughal emperor was by this time politically impotent.
