Sardar Sharana Gowda played an important role during the 1938 Vande Mataram Movement. He was an active participant during the 1945 to 1948 Hyderabad liberation struggle of Hyderabad-Karnataka.
He arranged troops to fight Razakars, the army of the Nizam Hyderabad. He was given the title "Sardar" during this period. He played a vital role in liberating the Hyderabad-Karnataka region with the help of Swami Ramanand Teerth. His dream of liberating the region from the Nizam rule was fulfilled with the help of Indian Army on 17th September 1948.
Sardar Sharana Gowda Inamdar died at the age of 95.
