This act empowered the British government to repress political activities and allowed detention of political prisoners without trail for 2 years.

So on 6th April 1919 hartals was declared against it

•Rallies were organised.

•Railway workers went on strike.

•Shops were closed down.

•Means of transport and Communication were disrupted.
