Rowlatt Act was an oppressive actintroduced by the British Government in 1919. It gave the Government enormous powers to repress political activities and allowed detention of political prisoners without trial for two years.

Rowlatt act .

To control the revolutionary activities british parliament passed a very famous law that was rowlatt act. This act was passed in march 1919.

Under this act british govt. could arrest any indian without telling his/her crime. British govt. could detain that indian for two years in the jail.

That indian could not hyer an advocate to look after his/her case, or could not file a case in the court against it.
Thats why Jwaharlal nehru called rowlatt act as a the black law.
