Hey user,
The members of the third estate infuriated by their monarch, Louis XVI 's decision of not giving the right to vote ,protested outside the court of Versailles and formed the national assembly. The national assembly drafted a constitution for France .
It forced the king to accord recognition to the assembly.
The monarch's power from now on be checked by the constitution was the National assembly's demand.
Due to the national assembly members of clergy were forced to give up their privileges, tithes were abolished, lands owned by the church was confiscated and as a result the government acquired assets worth at least two billion livres.
