India was a rich country although it lacked railways or mechanised factories . It's many industries like textiles and wootz steel were at there golden era. Education system was well developed with gurukuls which were fixed according to the time of need like agricultural months were kind of holidays​ for students with low fee. Kings and emperors​ rule thier land in a much better way than British and fulfilled most of the necessities of their people. They built dams and canals for irrigation.
