France in eighteenth century was divided into three estates namely the clergy and nobility and the third estate comprises peasents , official and small businesses. The clergy and nobility had enjoyed many privileges by birth. The third estate had to pay many taxes.
Economic conditions:-
Long years of war had drained the financial resources of france. To meet its regular expenses such as maintaining army, the court, running government offices or universities the state was forced to increase taxes for the third estate .
