The reasons for the success of Socialist economy in post revolution Russia were:-

1. Major changes came about in the Russian economy and agriculture post revolution. Private property was abolished, land became a state property and peasants could cultivate on state controlled land.

2. A proper system of centralized planning was introduced, by virtue of five year plans. It helped in bringing about technological advancements, economic growth and helped in removing inequalities in the society.

3. The revolution acknowledged right to work, and identified the dignity of labour. Most importantly, socialist economy redefined democracy, giving a socio-economic dimension to it.

4. Socialist economy became acceptable to people as it brought about extended system of schooling, cheap medical facilities to all and housing facilities to workers. It promoted the principle of social welfare.
